Hello everyone.
I am wondering what thickness of raw plank is needed for rafters 50 x 175 c/c 1200
roof pitch of 14 degrees intended to lay concrete tiles on it.

Looked at byggmax and found thicknesses of 17 and 22 mm
there's quite a difference over the crown per meter!

Both thicknesses work, but it wobbles when walking on 17 mm råspont. If you think it's worth ten per square meter, there might be one or two thousand saved on a roof. I do NOT think it's worth it anyway...

The idea is to build as cheaply as possible without being penny wise and pound foolish, and that doesn't seem to be the case if you choose 17mm råspont, if it wobbles, it's no big deal.

Every little bit helps.

Also, check the quality of the råspont itself. The last time I visited ByggMax, the quality of the 17 mm variant was not particularly pleasing. However, the 22 mm version looked much better.

Hi

I believe there's less waste with 22mm, so maybe there's not much difference in the end.

You are welcome to elaborate on that post a bit... 8-)

hijacking the thread a bit. planning to nail 17mm råspont as the ceiling in the stable. how large nails do you need for it to hold up reasonably well. considering getting a nail gun although it's 75 sqm that needs to go up ::)

As I wrote "I seem to recall"

Can't find the book but it had to do with how one gets/should splice the råspont.

But I might be wrong.

If you use 17mm råspont you must splice on a rafter. If you take 22mm it is fine to splice between the rafters, just make sure that no two splices are above each other. This way there is less waste with 22mm råspont.

Good luck!!!

If you use 17mm råspont, you need to splice on the roof truss. If you take 22mm, it's fine to splice between the trusses; just make sure that no two splices are directly above each other. As a result, there is less waste with 22mm råspont.

Good luck!!!
That's right :)
