Tongue and groove panel as interior ceiling
Hi!
I'm considering installing paneling as a ceiling in the bedroom where we want to have a classic style throughout the room.
But how wide should the boards be? Should the paneling be the same width as the board underneath? Which side should you use and paint, the sawn or planed surface? Or is it a matter of taste?
Then, which direction should I install the paneling? In the same direction as the floorboards?

Floor direction
Or should I place it from the window's perspective?
I hope someone understands my fine sketches.
Does anyone have a picture of such a ceiling?

ceiling lock panel ??
standard lock? 22 and then 22 on top? will probably look odd ??
outside the sawn surface is outward but it's really a matter of taste.
the width is entirely up to you, what you think looks nice.

We have such a ceiling in the summer cottage. It consists of quite wide boards, maybe 145 or 170 mm wide, about 20 mm thick. The same width for the cover as the bottom board.
It gives a rustic appearance.

Considering Planed 15x95mm http://www.byggmax.com/se-sv/Prod/PID-08315095.aspx but then the covers would be wider than the underlying boards, though it might still look nice. 145 or 170 is probably too wide, the room might be too small for that, and we will probably have such boards on the wall.
It would be nice to see some pictures of different board roof designs.

As mentioned, it might fit well in a holiday home. I'm not sure if I think it seems very practical or stylish for that matter inside a permanent residence. But of course, it's up to the observer......anaitis said:
In any case, it's probably worth noting that a raw surface, similar to what is on exterior panels, is not preferable from a cleaning standpoint. It will probably be hard to keep clean, a lot of dust accumulates over time
How did it go? We are building a new house in an old style and are considering tongue-and-groove paneling in some of the prominent ceiling areas.
