It's time for new ceilings on the upper floor, and I'm trying to mimic the existing old 19th-century "locktak" that are original.
How do you best attach such a thing (top image)?

The "lockbräda" has a groove on both sides, so you can't use panel clips, right?
If using visible through-fastening, I might want forged nails or cut nails (expensive).
