Hello, we have an older house where the wall in the basement has developed a long crack. I am completely new to the area of mortar, I was thinking that there might be an effective adhesive that could be suitable to stick the cracked parts back together. Maybe one that's fairly runny, so it can easily be poured a bit into the crack.

My first plan is to just fill the crack with some sealant adhesive for cement, is that preferable to breaking off the cracked parts entirely and then reattaching them?

Great gratitude for every helpful tip, especially a recommendation for an effective cement adhesive that could be used.

Here are two pictures that might help clarify the situation.

House fix!

Thanks! Yes, that should be the thing, a great tip. 99.90 at Clas Ohlson doesn't seem terribly expensive either. It seems like it needs to be diluted, then you could make one mixture more watery so it penetrates deeper into the crack, and a regular mixture for the wall.
Does it have lime properties as well, or does it mostly work as filler putty?

Certainly, it has some lime characteristics
I do think it can work to start with a more watery solution

The fix worked perfectly, and it also had adhesive properties. Tested gluing two stones together and they stuck.
