Tips on how to make a doorway smaller?
Hello
I live in a 70s house and I want to replace my front door with side light.
The total opening is about 1500 mm and I would like to make the opening smaller to have a narrower side light!
Do you have tips on how to do it nicely?
It's a brick house and it will be difficult to find matching bricks if one would build it in that way 😅

You might be able to redo the door and opening with wood. With a little work, it could probably end up looking good.

Thanks, I'll upload pictures when I get home!S Spik_och_Skruv said:

I imagine that the best solution would be to remove the entire section with the door and window that is between the brick walls, and replace it with something equivalent that holds a smaller door.
It's possible to rebuild just the door frame, but it will probably be more work even if it seems like a smaller intervention.

Why do you want narrower sidelights?
Alternatives include having a wider door or double door. Or a narrow sidelight on each side of the door. Changing to another type of glass in the sidelight can also alter how it is perceived.
