I'm looking for a "reverse" clamp, essentially a telescopic shaft similar to a small ceiling support or a shower rod with a telescopic function. I've built a saw table where my circular saw sits on a rail and follows a track. Perpendicular to the track, I have two blocks that I press the board, which is to be cut, against. Along the long sides of the table, I've placed supports as a frame. I secure the board to the saw table with clamps when it needs to be cut. Sometimes, however, it's not possible to secure the board with a regular clamp, for example, if it's very short. I would instead like to be able to press the board against the blocks on one side and the frame on the saw table on the other side, with some form of telescopic shaft. The problem is that this cannot be more than about 20-25 cm long to fit. Does anyone have any tips on what can be used? Can you, for example, buy a regular shower rod from Ikea and then cut it, or would that ruin the function?

Quick clamps can usually be reversed on the jaws. Then you get the desired function with a larger range.

Ok, thanks! Is it possible to tighten the clamp if you reverse the jaws?

Yes, it becomes something like this:
Quick-release spreader clamp with metal bar and plastic handle, illustrating how to force or expand apart in a construction context.
You "force" or tension, meaning "apart."

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Awesome! I'll try it as soon as I get home (I'm at the cabin). Thanks for the tip and the welcome :D
