I rent an apartment in a newly built multi-family building. Noticed that the neighbor on the same floor level 0 (where two hillside apartments are located) has painted concrete on their ceiling. I became curious as I have a ceiling with white tiles. I removed a tile and underneath there is raw concrete and a metal beam. Does anyone know if it's common to build like this in a residence? It smells strong in the apartment, something chemical. Grateful for any thoughts on this.
It is a suspended ceiling. Very common in office spaces but, as far as I know, significantly less common in apartments.
