Hey!
I'm considering whether we should have tiles in the kitchen, and how to make the subfloor stable enough if that's the case.
Currently, there is laminate flooring on top of sand covered with masonite.

My spontaneous thought is to glue floor gypsum onto the masonite, yay or nay?

I would prefer not to tear up the entire floor and carry all the sand down the stairs :D

Suggestions/experiences???

I think you are on the right track 8-).
If you don't like carrying sand.
You could suck it out, although
it might be a bit expensive.

Well, carrying sand is not really my thing....
And sucking doesn't feel like an option either...

about the plasterboard... is it 13mm floor plasterboard that's needed? or would 6mm renovation plasterboard work?

I don't think it works with rotgips.
The floor gips is harder.
I wonder if there is a floor gips
that is 10mm.

Best regards, Putte

hmm... 10mm floor gypsum... need to check out the gypsum manufacturers' websites and see what I can find...
