Considering building a table with tiles with a wooden board as the base.
Anything specific to keep in mind to ensure the grout adheres properly to the wood?

Firstly, the wooden board should be torsionally rigid. You might need to reinforce the underside depending on how large the table is. Prime the board before applying the fix. ;)

Not entirely sure what prima means. Probably some kind of base coat, I guess?

How large should the table be?

Around 120x60x40

Round 120x60x40
Those are strange dimensions for a round table ;)

If it should be rectangular, I assume you mean 120cm*60cm*4cm
Otherwise, it would be a VERY thick tabletop.

Ok, so I would do this;
16mm/22mm chipboard with a glued/glue-screwed 13mm plasterboard. Then tiles.
(There are floor chipboards 16/22*600*1800)

Before the plasterboard is placed, a frame/framework is made under the chipboard to attach table legs.

He he...didn't mean for the table to be round and for the measurement to be around 120... so around=approximately

Thanks for the help, though it sounds a bit complicated. Do you mean a frame in steel or similar?

Hello!

I'm not an expert on tables, but since the table will be in a warm environment or at least the same temperature (I hope), I think it should be enough to glue the tiles with adhesive (as long as no one dances on the table). Buy chipboard or MDF or HDF board 22mm. Then there are different ways to build the table itself.

Good luck!

I have made a couple of tables in this way. I have used PL400 adhesive. I have also tested with tile adhesive, and the result was that the wooden board warped from the moisture in the tile adhesive. And the table became less fun (ended up in the trash simply).

Tiling with tile adhesive works excellently.

Is there anything special to consider to make the putty adhere properly to the wood?
