I'm sitting and tinkering a bit and am worried about an upcoming demolition of a load-bearing wall. The house is a rendered wooden house with three floors, and in the basement, I plan to demolish a wall of about 1.80 cm and replace it with an H-beam of about 2.5 meters.

Does anyone have experience or any idea of how thick the beam needs to be to support the house? We've found a 14x14 H-beam with 1cm thickness at a great price, do you think that would be enough?

Part of the wall will remain on either side of the beam (about 1 meter + 60cm) and additionally, one part connects to the chimney. The length of the entire lower floor, including the chimney, is approximately 5 meters of which 2.5 meters will be opened up. Any advice, anyone?
