We went and treated the builders to a coffee break today in the afternoon. They are currently working hard on putting up the roof so it can be covered as soon as possible.
During our coffee break, we discussed their previous projects and the extensive theft that occurs with building materials, particularly appliances. At one of their previous sites, even the heat pump was stolen. They provided many examples of construction sites where appliances were stolen just a day or two after installation.
I'm now wondering if anyone else here on the forum has been affected?
We have a home insurance policy that came with the house price and is valid from when the house is framed. Apparently, the builder also has insurance. But he said his deductible was half a base amount. Ours is 1500 if I remember correctly.
If there is a theft of, say, our appliances - which insurance should cover it? Our home insurance or the builder's theft insurance?

They stole tools and machines from the craftsmen but "our" items hadn't arrived, it wasn't worthwhile for the builders to use their insurance because the deductible is so high, but if it had been our appliances, our insurance would have covered it!!
