Could it be because there is a plastic mat on the floor, causing moisture to seep into the walls? In other rooms without the mat, it doesn't look like this.
Very likely that you guess right. Older basement floors should not be covered with dense or organic material. Floors against the ground (assuming that's the case) get 100% moisture content. It can also absorb moisture if there is no capillary-breaking layer (plat or asfaltm) under the wall.
My drainage was set way too high and a year after I replaced the basement sewage, my moisture problems began.
My floors were painted with a completely impermeable Epoxy paint and capillary action caused the moisture to come out of the interior walls.
Probably my old sewage had drained the house before...
Thank you. Not a big deal in my case since it's an old laundry room (detached) but it would be nice to fix it, but then I should remove the mat first...
Nope, it's redrained and newly plastered walls in the basement.
In my case, it was probably worse where water was basically running out of the wall...
Everyone who looked at it thought there was a water pipe in the wall that was leaking.
