Those of you who have shopped at Byggmax and want to save the receipts for deductions or warranties, make sure to make copies of them before the text disappears. Just looked at some receipts from last fall, and they are already unreadable.

Not just Byggmax. Have just handed over the accounting (in an AB) with a number of completely blank receipts to the auditor. It will be interesting to hear what he thinks.

The Swedish Tax Agency probably has significant opinions on the matter.

Probably due to the new environmentally friendly ink for printers:rolleyes:

Can't you write your own receipts? They approved those from a Landshövding = former Landshövding.

Always pay with a debit card, so the amount and VAT are on the credit card statement from the bank. WHAT I have bought, well, let SKV figure that out themselves...

Regarding warranties, it's just a matter of showing the blank receipt to Byggmax. It's their original document!

Well, the ink is indeed as environmentally friendly as possible since these printers usually don't have any ink. They write by using friction/heat on a paper that's coated with chemicals that react so the paper turns black from the heat. Try pressing your nail on the receipt and quickly dragging it sideways across the receipt and you'll see it turns black.

When it comes to Byggmax, the problem is easy to solve. Just ask for "a large receipt" and you will receive an A4-sized receipt, printed with a laser printer.

I always scan my receipts and save them on the computer.

Thermal transfer is worthless and it's surprising that it is approved at all as a receipt. The storage time is, as mentioned, very short. Interestingly enough, there are cash registers that have the same system on both rolls....

Although there are different qualities of receipt rolls. The cheapest ones have text visible for at best a couple of months, while the more expensive rolls usually don't have any issues with the text disappearing.

A receipt roll that is 80m costs around a tenner for the cheapest ones (=2.5 öre/receipt at 20cm). The better ones cost about 20 SEK (=5 öre/receipt). I guess Byggmax has saved a bit too much.

Well, they don't save at all. Just ask and you will get receipts on regular paper!
