We live in a townhouse from '81 and need an extra bedroom. The houses are built on a slope and are connected by the garages (which are on the upper floor) so these are well insulated in the side walls through the connection with the rest of the building, and the floor therefore also has no contact with the ground.
I don't plan to use the entire space and will keep the garage door in place, using 1/3 as storage. However, I'm wondering about additional insulation for the ceiling, which I suspect is quite sparingly insulated. The problem is that there isn't full ceiling height in the garage (225cm), and you want to keep as much as possible.
How should this insulation look, if applied? I haven't opened the ceiling to check, so I have no idea what the construction looks like.
Has anyone else undertaken similar projects and would like to share their experiences?
