Hello, I want to tear down a wall in my house from 1923. 2 floors + basement and attic. The wall runs parallel to the floor joists and roof trusses. In the basement below, there is a masonry wall, on the second floor above there is a wall, however, it seems to be more lightly built. The wall consists of vertical thick planks 2-3 inches. I assume it is not load-bearing, right? If it's not and I tear it down, should I still support it with a beam to avoid a bouncy upper floor or the roof sagging? Can I nail together two planks and use them as a beam? Should I measure the ceiling height beforehand to see if it sinks and then possibly lift it with something like a jack and install a beam? Many questions... a bit new to this...
