I was wondering if it was possible to remove these beams in the ceiling of my garage. I mean the 100x100 beams that the vertical “beam” is attached to in the first picture. The first beam makes it look like some kind of framework, but it's only the second (from the door view) roof truss that has these vertical beams; it doesn't rest on them, however. The remaining 100x100 beams are not under the roof trusses, does this mean they only support the board ceiling that has been installed underneath, or do they have some kind of stabilizing effect even if they don't align with the roof trusses? The remaining roof trusses are visible in the second picture, more like an A-truss from what I understand? Not that it's any professional construction directly.
Spontaneously, I think it sounds like they are definitely part of the trusses/construction and cannot be removed, but it would be easier to answer with more information/pictures. For example, what do you mean by "first rule" and that the rest are not under the trusses, how are they then attached? Is it just a 100x100 you want to remove or all of them? What span are we talking about and how many trusses are there? Pictures where you can see more of the whole, including the roof-wall junction, would be good. Vertical supports like the one you show generally do not support the roof but the rule underneath it.
I also realized that the pictures left something to be desired! I've taken a few more. The studs I'm talking about don't rest on the wall like the rafter does; they are attached in between. The pictures might show it more clearly than I can explain. But might they still contribute to stability more than just for the inner ceiling?T ToveJohannaS said:Spontaneously, I think it sounds like they are absolutely part of the rafters/construction and cannot be removed, but it will be easier to answer with more information/pictures.
