A quiet thought, but XPS foam and even regular foam polystyrene handle pressure really well, can be cast in, plastered, and even used to build roads.
Suppose you build something with foam that needs to withstand about 1500 kg load (distributed over about 1x1 m) and that there are irregularities in the foam and various cavities/gaps against the material to be laid on top. If you were to inject foam sealant to even out, does it withstand the same pressure as the foam itself? How much load can foam sealant handle before it collapses?

The whole idea is to have the weight distributed evenly over the entire surface, and I don't think you get that evenly with construction foam, and construction foam definitely can't handle as much as XPS. When you cast into foam plastic, you should have at least 50 mm of concrete on top to distribute the weight.

In this case, it's a terrace pool/hot tub that is partly on XPS and rests on a framework, but there is still a gap in one place between the framework and the bottom of the tub. I was considering if I could fill it with foam sealant, or if I need to remove everything and reframe (or add something to build the height of the framework exactly where it gaps).
Similarly, parts of the terrace pool are blocked with foam plastic, but unfortunately have a slope. So I also considered if the foam sealant could compensate for the slope, i.e., fill cavities when everything is leveled.
It doesn't have to be as hard as XPS, rather, it's more about whether foam sealant can hold up compared to regular foam plastic under pressure. The alternative would be to saw/cut regular foam plastic at the right angle, etc.

The whole idea of leveling everything and then smoothing it out with foam sealant appeals in the imagination. A quick and easy way to make a framework and Styrofoam support together become a rigid section that supports the entire barrel in all its form - but if foam sealant is worse at handling pressure compared to regular cellplast, it fails and results in a lot of cutting instead.
