I am planning to lay tiles on a roof terrace and wonder how to secure the construction against future moisture problems. The villa is two stories high and built with a leca construction (dsm building blocks). The terrace is located in one corner on the second floor and borders down to the living room. The decking under the terrace is constructed as follows: (from the bottom) 200mm leca deck element, Macoflex roofing felt, 100mm cellular plastic, 100mm concrete. The terrace is sloped so the water runs off.

Is a proper seal and tiles enough, or will there be problems in the future?
The roofing felt in the middle of the construction currently feels like a mistake, will it cause problems if the warm indoor air rises and meets the cold slab on the terrace?
Could one create a safer construction by adding heating cables?

Does anyone have another solution?

I hope someone can answer as I would like to solve this before it gets too cold outside.

We are about to do a similar thing, maybe we can share what we know - would be great. Best regards, Melie

That's exactly how you should do it, but for god's sake make sure that the waterproofing is done properly as everything depends on it.

Chiming in here a bit and asking what type of waterproofing should be used. I have an old terrace under a roof but rain and snow blows in with a garage underneath and I'm wondering how it would be built today as mine was built in '54.
