I had three half tiles that were ugly and needed replacing, so I broke them loose to replace with new ones. Previously, the underlayment was very poor with mostly a lot of floor glue and then tile adhesive on top that held the tiles in place. The standing panel pieces and the center stud are not completely fixed and wobble a bit.

Now I'm wondering how you would make it completely stable? One idea I have is to screw/fix the panel pieces and central stud, and then prime and fill everything up with concrete to the same height as the floor gypsum on the tile that’s already there. I also have a bag of Ardex S48 lying around that can be used.

Another thought is to just lay a narrow row of tiles where there's strong support from the floor chipboard/gypsum, and then build up to lay a wide flat threshold piece. This way, there’s no need to have it completely stable under the threshold. Ideas are welcome...

I would probably have removed "everything", sawed off the standing panel down by the beam, sawed off the "loose" longitudinal beam, and removed the two short beam pieces.

Ok! But what would you have done then?
