I could use some help understanding the nomenclature.. I'm working with drawings from the truss supplier and trying to convert the loads. The support reactions are given in kN, I have the minimum support width and beam thickness. Can the support reaction be translated to act on this area? That is, convert it to a line load or surface load?
I don't think it's that simple, but sometimes you get lucky. :)

If you take the bearing width times the beam thickness, you get the bearing area. Then, if you take the bearing reaction and divide it by the bearing area, you get the bearing pressure. 1 N/m2 = 1 Pa. The bearing reaction becomes a point load that the wall structure must handle.
