Hi
We are planning to extend the summer house and want an open space up to the ridge. I will connect purlins directly to the side of the ridge beam. My question is how to best make this connection.
Ridge Beam: Glulam 115x360
Purlin: Glulam 56x270
Should one use a beam hanger (are there any for such thick profiles?)
Is it enough to glue and screw a support beam under it?
I have seen examples of this but am concerned about the strength. The load from the purlin will be very localized on this support beam, does it help that it is screwed and nailed a bit away from the purlin?

Is it enough to glue and screw a joist underneath as support?

I have the same question as you. I shall have a sleeping loft in an Attefall house (max 4 m height) and want to save height. Have you solved the problem?
