Suitable place to drill concrete wall?
Where is the most appropriate place to drill in this concrete wall to be able to run a network cable into the other room? I have a stud finder that warns in certain places for electricity, but it might not be entirely reliable on concrete. Could where the baseboard is located be a safe drilling spot?
Generally, the wiring is usually run vertically or horizontally from junction boxes.C Challe777 said:
That is, from the power outlet, the wires probably go straight up or straight down. Or possibly horizontally if there are outlets on the other side of the wall to the left in the picture.
So if you stay outside of those areas, it should be fine.
Provided that the pipes go straight through the wall, I would try to drill near these as far into the corner as possible or alternatively near the upper corner under the ceiling.
This is provided that the stud finder does not give a signal where you intend to drill, of course.
Note that there are never any guarantees. And different finders are differently precise, so it can react in places where there is no electricity or miss places where there is electricity, even though the former is more common.
But I would say that deep into the corner near the baseboard or high up under the ceiling near the corner should be fairly safe. However, there is always a risk when drilling through a wall, even if you try to be thorough and search for wires and other things as best as you can.
