Hello!

I'm going to cover the inside of my garage with gypsum. I have already covered it with OSB boards. Behind the OSB boards, I have a vapor barrier, so all the screws holding the OSB in place are in the studs so they don't perforate the plastic.

My question now is whether the gypsum should also be attached to the studs, with slightly longer screws, or should I use really short gypsum screws and attach them to the OSB.

The thickness is about OSB+gypsum 12mm+11mm= 23mm.

(I see that the shortest gypsum screw seems to be 30mm, so maybe this idea doesn't work anyway)

In any case, I would be extremely grateful for tips on how you would attach the gypsum boards!

Best regards,
Fredrik

The 'best' is if you go through the OSB and into the studs.
Partly because it holds best and also to avoid perforating the vapor barrier.

I fastened the OSB with 3.9x30 and then the drywall with 3.9x41mm

(by the way, I've finished painting the ceiling and put the fabric on the storage walls - only the 'rest' left now.. ;))

Thank you for a very good answer!!
Regards
Fredrik
