Hello!
I need advice on which panel material to use for building a smaller wall section. It doesn't need to be a load-bearing structure but rather function as a cover panel to hide what's behind it. One half of the wall will be attached along the side of a tall cabinet. Should I use MDF, plasterboard, or "laminate panel"? Since several pieces need to be joined together to achieve the right size and shape, I'm thinking MDF. An alternative that might look nicer is to build a more solid wall with panels and studs inside, but that feels more complicated and something I'd rather avoid. The thickest version of MDF might still give a reasonably solid impression?

I want this new wall section to resemble the rest of the wall, which is plastered and painted white. How do I achieve that? Just paint, or apply a skim coat first?

Thankful for your response!

/Fredrik

You can build with just plasterboard if you're only going to have a wall, but based on experience, I would put something 'load-bearing' behind it, like plywood or chipboard. You never know the needs in the future. Good luck.
