We recently bought a house where the paint has peeled off the boards that are installed to cover the foundation. The inspector noted in the report that it is not possible to paint on the boards that are currently installed. We would like to have a similar appearance as today - does anyone have any suggestions on what material we could use? We would like to have boards that we can repaint so that they look like the ones in the picture (but with the ability to paint without the paint peeling off).

  • A yellow house with black roof, surrounded by trees and nature, featuring a white deck and lattice boards covering the base foundation.
All painting on sheet material involves a risk that the paint will eventually peel off. Isn't it possible to find a sheet that is already close to the desired appearance as it is? My suggestion would be Fibercement/Cembrit.

Thank you very much! Will the weight differ significantly from a regular board? My concern is that it might affect the construction given the foundation slab, but maybe it's not an issue or what do you think?

I'm unsure what you mean by "vanlig skiva". But of course, one can calculate the weight if they think they are on the borderline of what the plintgrunden can support.

When I look at your picture, I also think it would be aesthetically okay to continue with the boardwork that you have on the far right, also on the left part. Whether it's weathered pressure-treated pine, or Siberian larch, or whatever it is.
