Styrofoam as insulation

I am in the process of building a terrace on my Link House, and the short side that faces the neighbor, I have chosen to have a stud wall with tongue-and-groove wood on both sides. So the question is, I am thinking that there needs to be something in between so it doesn't become so soundproof towards the neighbor. I have no ambition to make the gap waterproof. I'm thinking that styrofoam would work excellently for this. But I'm not sure.

So yes, that's what I'm wondering

Foam insulation unfortunately does not isolate sound very well. Heavy porous materials are best sand>sawdust>mineral wool.

But I think a double tongue and groove, as you write, will be sufficient; there will still be quite a bit of sound leakage through the air.

yeah, since we don't want to spend time making it weatherproof, we'll probably have to skip wool or similar.
but you think there won't be that much of a problem with the sound.

Add a layer of exterior gypsum (9 mm gypsum board used as wind and weather protection under the facade panel) on each side as well, and you will probably get noticeably better sound insulation.
Under/behind the tongue and groove wood, that is.

I think the wall against the neighbor must be insulated against fire.

It is a terrace with a screen wall, then no fire requirements are needed.

Now I don't know what the wall looks like, but a better choice than polystyrene is a ground board of compressed stone wool. It's a material found in sound-absorbing panels.
