Strange flange on drainpipe...

I'm in the process of replacing a cast iron well in what used to be the old boiler room (built in 1977) and found this.
Pipe diameter is 75 mm.
Is it just a matter of cutting it off and putting on a coupling?

The craftsmen have just removed my cast iron well (built -77) and as far as I could tell, it looked exactly like yours. Now they have installed one of these
