Hello!

The house I live in is a bit unique. The person who lived here before chose to dig under the crawl space and establish a basement. He finished the interior nicely, and at this stage, the house was still on its crawl space foundation (how he managed that is a mystery).

Then he started digging from the outside to get smooth outer walls and to be able to cover them with Platon mat, he cast underneath the foundation to create basement walls.

When he had done half the house, he passed away, not due to the work but because of age.
Now I want to fix the other half somehow and wonder if anyone has any tips or experiences regarding this? The house is originally a timber house from 1918 and was extended in 1944, the part they built in 1944 is tongue-and-groove wood with a thickness of 45.

It might sound a bit vague, but to quickly explain, half the house stands on basement walls while the rest is on its old crawl space foundation, yet there's a basement under the whole house.

Grateful for all responses!!

Should one just ignore it? I have no problems with moisture in the basement and I never plan to furnish it with anything other than storage down there....

It seems no one had any tips or thoughts regarding my dilemma?

Today I measured the humidity in the basement, and it was at 46%.

Doesn't feel like it's particularly humid?
