I have a small house built in '56. I've soon renovated most of it, but now I've reached the old boiler room/laundry room. This room is located in the utility area with the garage and storage. The entire area is built with large stones that, when drilled into, turn into small gravel in the drill hole. Everything has been painted white for a long time, but in what will become the laundry room, there are lots of holes because it used to serve as a boiler room. An oil burner has undoubtedly stood here. I'm soon getting a heat pump in this space, which is not more than about 5 square meters. I'm trying to get things in order before the pump arrives. Now to the question. I want to fix the walls because they are terrible. Can some kind of plaster be applied and then painted? As mentioned, there are many old holes in the walls, but no plaster or stone has come loose. And I don't know about the ceiling because it might be asbestos boards throughout the utility area. I'm not sure how to tell, but they are thin painted white boards. I don't want to make any damage to this, but do you think it's possible to glue up panel boards on the ceiling, like beadboard panels? I would appreciate some suggestions.
