I have tried to find an answer to my question, but when I search, I find too much information.
My problem is that I need to frame an (outer) wall with metal studs, and on that wall, I want to attach horizontal paneling. How should I attach this to the metal studs?
Or should I skip the metal studs and frame with wood studs 10-30 mm from the outer wall instead? Then, I have no problem attaching the paneling...

Is it a basement wall?

You must screw the panel, alternatively screw in a spikregel.

bah! :)
I'm facing exactly the same issue (inside basement wall, that is). I haven't decided how to do it yet, but screwing the panel is, as mentioned, an option, if you can find a good screw. Another option I've considered is to screw a vertical 20x45 batten onto the standing steel stud and then nail the panel into that. With a ventilated air gap behind it. Matti_75 probably meant something similar.

I am currently adding extra insulation to the house with steel studs. Check out Lindab RFLEX.

Screwing the panel seems difficult - better to nail.

I would have installed a vapor barrier on the steel studs and then a thin strip, like 22x45 as hehehe writes. Then the panel on this.

It works great to screw the panel if you have a decent screwdriver. If you use color-matched screws (white for white panel, etc.), it also looks good; I usually use grabber drywall screws 3.9x32. "Hang" the square on the board when you set the screw, so it ends up in the same place every time ;)

Where are you with the studs if you're using a vapor barrier, not in the basement I hope for your sake.

Sorry, didn't realize it was a cellar wall. Just read "outer wall."

Have been absorbed in work in the basement, but thanks for all the answers. To answer some questions, yes it is a basement wall and yes it is an exterior wall! I'm actually considering going with possum77's advice to screw the panel and I'm using Festool T15 so screwing is not a problem :)
