Hello,

The roof of our summer house has slipped out due to poor fastening and construction and snow masses. Fortunately, the roof is not very heavy due to the steel roof, so it should be quite easy to lift.

I was thinking of using a large jack to lift the roof and then pulling it together with a winch to then secure it with steel cables straight over the legs.

But now I can't find any good cables. I found some at Claes Ohlson, but they only support 1000kg, which I think is too little. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can find these?

Also, it might not be the best method, but I believe this is the simplest and relatively best solution.

Available at boating accessory retailers. I know Hjertmans has it. It should be significantly cheaper elsewhere, as boat gear tends not to be particularly inexpensive.
 
Thank you! Does anyone know if there is such a product specifically for roofs? When I looked at Biltema, I also found straps that would actually work just as well. If you simultaneously secure the roof legs properly again. Because these seem easier to attach than wires.
 
Chain + turnbuckle?
 
Jula has an 8 mm wire from Gunnebo, 3200 kg.

If that's not suitable, go to Swedol or a professional ironmongery and buy lifting chain. It can be recognized by being black or blue with a price tag that will give you a fright. It is hardened and incredibly strong, without being bulky.

Straps are good, but I've broken too many in various stupid ways to trust them for something like this.
 
Thank you Henrik and Vojma! I find it a bit gross with a wire that you have to loop yourself with a lock, so a chain really seems to be the way to go! This one at 2000kg I think will suffice: http://www.clasohlson.com/se/Kätting/Pr310864002 and then a turnbuckle in the middle to tighten a bit.
 
Hmmmm, that wire from Gunnebo doesn't seem bad at all! Does anyone know how to make a "loop" for a wire with a wire lock? Is it really safe?
 
There are different wire clamps.
The ones I was considering for the above look like two jaws that are screwed together; two of these on each loop should hold, and then a thimble in the loop to reduce stress concentration.
It's doubtful whether they are available in boating supply stores and more likely from those selling to industry and ships; galvanized items should suffice here.
Keep in mind that the loop can reduce strength, so consider increasing the dimension.

A wire with a declared strength of 1000 kg can withstand more than that before breaking. How were you planning to attach it? Feels like the attachment point will be the weakest link.
