Hello!
Now that I've removed the paint, I see a crack about 10cm long in the staircase stringer (not sure what type of wood it is).
I was thinking of course that I should fill the crack with something, but the question is what? I bought wood filler for smaller blemishes and holes, but what should I use as filler material for the crack? I read that someone had used epoxy for this. But what products are recommended and where can I find them?
I also have a question about the steps that are currently nailed. I want to get rid of the creaking and was thinking of pre-drilling a bit to also put in screws. Can I do that or are there any risks? If it's possible, can I use wood screws or what type of screws should I use?
Maybe this is obvious to those of you who work with this kind of thing, but I'm a complete noob when it comes to stairs.
Grateful for help!
