Hello

I have started working on our pine staircase and begun removing the needle felt carpet from the steps. But what I'm really wondering about now is whether the rule that runs down the middle of the staircase is load-bearing. I have seen similar pine staircases in the same design where it ends at the lowest inner stringer and therefore doesn't go down to the floor.

Does anyone have good knowledge about this?
Wooden staircase with removed carpet, central support beam, unfinished steps, children’s bike, blue shopping bags, and scattered household items.

Since the staircase is "divided" into two sections, that post supports the staircase.

Okay, that's what I suspected. Then it can stay. Thanks for the quick response :-)
