Hello, we have recently bought a house and will soon move in, but since we have two small children, we need to childproof the stairs. In addition to a handrail along the wall, we thought we would want to build a simple but secure stair rail on the right side. What is recommended? Do you have any ideas on how to do it in a simple and quick way?
Curved wooden staircase in a house, leading upstairs; living room with grey sofa visible through doorway; wall art on both walls. Wooden staircase with carpeted steps in a tiled room, adjacent to white shelving units with storage boxes.

Welcome to the forum!

An easy way is a trellis that goes from the floor or vangstycket up to the railing which I assume exists on the upper level. The distance between the lower and upper half looks adequate to fit a sturdy regel.

Additionally, you need to secure the space between the steps with a regel on the underside of the steps, so that there is a maximum of 10 cm free there.

Thank you Birgit, do you mean a trellis from the basement up to the upper floor? There is no railing along the staircase at all, so I'm not quite sure how we should attach it.
This is the only picture of the upper floor that I have right now. Attic space with wooden floors, a small railing, a window, and a plant. Walls are white, and ceiling has visible beams, creating an open and bright atmosphere.
