After much back and forth, we've found a stair railing that we feel fits our house.
We found one at Hornbach from nordingrå trä. An indoor railing.
Now to all the questions that I hope to get answers from you knowledgeable ones!
I screw the spindles to the rail in the handrail. There's a rail where I place the spindles, see image. Then I was thinking of gluing on the handrail. What type of screw should I use? I understand wood screws, but what dimension? The spindles are 40*40 mm.
For the posts? I know there is a screw that screws down into the floor joist. What is that type of screw called?
How do I attach the railing part with the base rail to the floor most neatly? I don't want to screw in from above and leave it visible!!
The handrail itself? How would you attach it to the post and the wall in the best way?
I know, many strange questions but you want it to be nice and right!
To the columns? I know there's a screw that you screw down into the floor joist. Which I can then attach the column to. What's that type of screw called?
I used the käppskruv that tommib links to. Bought Lundbergs variant. Remember when planning that you need space to screw the whole post.
The handrail was from Nordingrå and I believe it was exactly the same as the one you bought. Also have similar spindles. First, I screwed the strip from above into the spindles. Countersunk wood screw with a diameter of 4 mm and a length more than double that of the strip is what I would suggest. Then regular wood glue when the handrail was placed on from above.
Used a planed board as the base piece. First, I screwed a strip into the short end of the spindles, similar to the top. Placed the package on the base piece and screwed down through the strip. Then we placed blocks of a profiled strip between each spindle. Finally, a strip, I think it was a picture rail, was screwed into the base piece along with the spindles and blocks. We also installed blocks and a strip at the handrail to make it a bit more elaborate. Then we could also angle screw the handrail into the post with quite coarse screws which were then concealed by the strip.
Fantastic fine railing. Yes, we use everything from Nordingrå wood. However, the pre-painted. Thanks for the info. We use their underlying. I was thinking of pre-drilling from underneath and then attaching the spindles with a 5mm 80mm partial threaded screw to secure the spindles. Then, as you said, add the strip, screw with 30mm. Then glue the handrail.
I saw that Lundbergs has a screw with a flat bar that I attach the handrail to the post and wall with.
I used stick screws as tommib links to. Bought Lundbergs variant. Remember when planning that there needs to be space to screw the entire post.

Used a planed board as a bottom piece. First screwed a strip into the short end of the spindles similar to the top. Placed the package on the bottom piece and screwed down through the strip. Then we placed blocks of a profiled list between each spindle. Finally, a strip, picture rail I think it was, which was screwed into the bottom piece along with spindles and blocks. We also placed blocks and list at the handrail to make it a bit more worked. Then we could also angle screw the handrail into the post with a fairly coarse screw that was then concealed by the strip.

Nice railing. How do you handle the floor? Does it go under the railing or does it end under one of the strips?
Nice railing. What do you do with the floor? Does it go under the railing or does it end under one of the moldings?
Thank you! The floor goes all the way under the railing. The bottom board of the railing is screwed through the floor into the subfloor (solid screwed wooden floor).
