Stainless steel nail from Biltema
Hello!
In the coming days, I'm going to start installing paneling on my facade.
I will add insulation and then install 28x70 "nail battens," and then screw the paneling.
The reason I'm opting to screw instead of nail is that the studs that need to be attached to the current facade of aerated concrete/plaster might loosen due to vibrations if I nail.
I'm considering using stainless decking screws from Biltema, but I wonder if that's the right choice. They're cheap, but are they good?
Does anyone have experience/opinions on these screws?
Are they suitable for this, or should I choose another brand/model?

No, skip the decking screw. Firstly, the regular decking screw rusts after a few years, so it's not a good option for that reason. Secondly, you will be frustrated when the siding boards crack as you screw them in.
The stainless decking screw from Biltema doesn't seem to rust, but it's completely impossible to screw with as it requires three hands to get the screw in (torx+non-magnetic material=hopeless). Perhaps this can be resolved with a conical torx bit which should be available, but without it, it's a real hassle.
Look at a Grabber screw called PTSxx (self-drilling panel screw). It's a good screw that works well for what you're doing. A bit more expensive but, in this context, it's a small investment.
How do you attach the battens for the insulation in the house? With the right plug (facade plug), it shouldn't be a problem to nail?

Doesn't it feel a bit unstable if the studs shake loose when you nail them? Isn't there a risk that everything might come apart by itself over time? I haven't tested Biltema's stainless decking screws, but I have used those from Byggmax, which I assume are roughly the same. I don't recognize MathiasS's concerns at all about it being tricky to get the screw in place. I have screwed in thousands of screws in every conceivable direction and have never had a problem with this.
A "regular" screw of good quality with a head for a PH2 bit can be placed on the bit and screwed in without guiding the screw with my hand. All Torx screws I've used (with the bits I have, expensive or cheap) also require a hand on the screw until it catches the thread.andersmc said:
Agree with Mathias there...
Torx requires a guiding hand. :-/
As for the wall mounting, I plan to use fasadplugg, but I don't know exactly which brand yet.
I've looked at Essve, but they're so darn expensive. 10 SEK each... :'(
I've also found fasadplugg at Byggmax for 6 SEK, but I'm not sure how well they hold in the concrete.

Saw that Grabber seems to "recommend" screws with 950-1 bits instead of PH2.
Can it be screwed with a depth stop? I was thinking of trying to screw the panel with a depth stop instead of torque limitation on the drill to "automatically" get the same depth on all screws.

no, now let's take it easy, buy a screw that meets the standards, e.g., essve hilti or gunnebo, nothing else. Even the facade plugs should be of these brands. There are facade plugs that can be screwed in!!
good luck and ask if you have any questions

Here is a small update.
I have now ordered :-/ facade plug (EFP-L) from Essve, as it seems there isn't a single retailer in Stockholm that has such in stock.
I have also purchased panel screw (PTS) and batten screw (PWS) from Grabber.

Oh, are they hard to get hold of? I should have something similar in a couple of weeks.
Have you checked Fredells or Woody in Huddinge? Both have a good selection of Essve. Also, LZ near Globen seemed to have a good selection.

Hi Mathias.
I ended up ordering at Beijer in Sollentuna since I work right next door.
They were very helpful and even checked with Essve if I could purchase through them, and pick up directly from Essve located in Sollentuna, but their warehouse was in Ullrisehamn so it was a bit far to go.
I looked at Woody in Huddinge, but they only had MRT's version of facade plug/screw and were not willing to order anything from Essve.
LZ didn't have any in stock either, and were willing to order, but at a higher price than Beijer, and with a longer delivery time. About 2 weeks.
I ordered at Beijer yesterday (Friday) and will get them on Tuesday. They will send an SMS when I can come pick them up?
