spruce up above the door after arch
Hello!
As beginners, we found ourselves in a situation where an arch we removed was higher than the door frame we installed. This is probably quite normal, but now we're in a bind. We've repainted (over old wallpaper) everywhere, so it's not a question of "redoing it right" (that will have to wait for another time), but rather about making lemonade out of a seriously sour lemon!
Tips on how you would tidy it up are gratefully received.
My first thought was to fill in the hole with a cut plasterboard (spackle at the seam?) and then try to attach some kind of larger molding over the "regular" one up there.
Ideas are gratefully received!

Thanks in advance!

About a year later, I thank you for your answers!
It turned out really well, I cut out a gypsum board that fit in the hole. Installed a support bracket and filled and painted.
It can only be seen if you study it with a magnifying glass that it's not textured wallpaper just above the door!
