Due to rot, I need to cut off a piece of the roof truss's upper arm and splice in a new one. The timber dimensions are 65x180, do I need 160mm nail plates or can I manage with 120mm? It's approximately one meter.

Works with plywood

I know but I don't have any plywood.

Difficult to give a good answer without knowing where on the truss's rafter the damage is located. It is difficult to get a moment-stiff joint with 160 mm splice plate.

It's located a couple of meters up on the high leg. However, it has a thick wall for support. Nearly a meter of that wall will also need to be replaced.
Old wooden wall with visible rot and damage, showing mold and discoloration. A diagonal support beam crosses the boards, suggesting needed repair.

If the stud will be attached to the renovated wall, it doesn't really matter how you do it. After all, 120 mm splice plates are unnecessarily short. There won't be many screws on each side.

They are 120x300mm.

Sounds more reasonable. You still can't use the outer screw holes in a wider bleck.

Here's how it turned out. The upper part will have to wait since it's an outer wall and not the right time to do anything about it now.

Repaired wooden wall section with fresh planks and diagonal support beam; tools and wood debris on the floor; upper wall area unfinished.

Instead of plates, you could have screwed and glued a stud of the same dimension on the outside of everything.

That would have been more in the way since the wall is going to be insulated.

Okay, well, I don't have all the information about what your plans are.

Ok ja jag har ju inte all info om vad du har för planer
It’s clear. :)
The only reason I even discovered the damage is because I tore down a thin interior wall ahead of decorating the space.
