Special tape to seal the gap between baseboard and wall?
The baseboard seems fairly tight against the parquet but has gaps at the top against the wall, about a millimeter (perhaps a little more) in several places. And small insects seem to thrive there, likely dust mites, but I've also seen other bugs. A pest control company has been and suggested spraying with Radar myself.
The apartment is rented from a private individual, so I can't do more than minimal non-destructive measures, but I thought someone here might know of a special tape that is "non-permanent"? Something that can cover the gaps but can be removed later without the risk of damaging the paint? The baseboard is painted white wood and the wall is painted white (that hopeless white paint that marks like a pencil if you accidentally bump into it).
The alternative would be to use some white "compound" that does not require painting. Something that can be easily applied into the seam, smoothed with a finger, and the excess can be wiped off with a damp sponge. Thus, there's no risk of discoloration on the baseboard or the painted wall. And it should be elastic enough not to crack. Any suggestions on which putty/compound to use in that case?
(Not part of my question, but the whole thing is a mystery because the bugs shouldn't have anything to eat. It's a very small apartment, two years old new construction, very sparsely furnished, bugs even in the baseboard against the partition wall, so the cause shouldn't be mold between the baseboard and the concrete, extremely sparse with belongings and decorations, food and clothes stored tightly sealed, humidity under 50%, no bugs in the bathroom, and haven't actually seen them in the kitchen area either.)
