Hi!

We are going to have a splash guard in our kitchen made of composite that will go up about 25cm above the countertop. They are coming to measure for it in about a week. Now I'm wondering if the wall should be spackled even where the splash guard will be installed or not? Does anyone know?

What material and thickness does the protection consist of?

Composite, either 13mm or 20, we haven't completely decided yet.

Then it is a rigid sheet, and it may be glued there and have a finishing strip at the top. What you need to do is get as even a surface as possible all the way, if there is any dip, it doesn't matter. With a straight board that is placed against the wall, it is clear how flat/uneven it is, it should also be even on the plumb line all the way. With a rigid sheet, it could end up not lying against the wall correctly. With a sheet that is only a few millimeters thick, it can become bulgy, but not for you now. It might be best to speak with the people who will come and measure how the base should be.
