We have a slightly too noisy fan (belonging to the Nivell-floor) that I thought to soundproof a bit better than the current half-baked attempts.

At Biltema, there is https://www.biltema.se/bil---mc/biltillbehor/ljudisolering/ljuddampningsplatta-2000017199

(and alternatively https://www.biltema.se/bil---mc/biltillbehor/ljudisolering/ljuddampningsplatta-2000018990)

Is this okay to use indoors as well?

How do I best cut to fit? Regular morakniv, saw, or machete? It doesn't need to be pretty, but straighter edges make for easier installation and maybe even better soundproofing.

These dampen airborne noise the most, so they are well-suited for the inside of a soundproof hood. On resonant surfaces, it is advisable to apply smeltfolie.

And they work excellently indoors.

Great!

I was planning to cover the fan with the soundproofing panel. Just to dampen the airborne noise. (I've tried pressing a large pillow around it and it becomes significantly quieter.)

Damping foil will probably be perfect between the fan and the board the fan is mounted on! How do you screw the fan vertically in the best way then?

Can't you take some pictures and sketch out what you have in mind? I'm having a little trouble imagining what it looks like.

A lot of noise coming from fans is structure-borne sound, so hang the fan with rubber pads and use flex pipe, etc., before and after the fan, then different fans make different amounts of noise.

I can take some pictures on Sunday and post them here. Will get back to you then.

Anyone have tips on suitable rubber pads for a duct fan?

I have insulated everything possible with insulation like the one from Biltema. I've tried most things to cut it with, but I've concluded that scissors work best.

How did it go for you with this? I have a large fan for my ventilated subfloor, but I think most of the noise comes from the streaming air (hiss) and not so much from the fan.

The result was mediocre.

If possible, perhaps one should build everything behind plasterboard, double layers. But my fan is positioned so awkwardly that it doesn't work for me.
