We have a slightly too noisy fan (belonging to the Nivell-floor) that I thought to soundproof a bit better than the current half-baked attempts.

(and alternatively https://www.biltema.se/bil---mc/biltillbehor/ljudisolering/ljuddampningsplatta-2000018990)
Is this okay to use indoors as well?
How do I best cut to fit? Regular morakniv, saw, or machete? It doesn't need to be pretty, but straighter edges make for easier installation and maybe even better soundproofing.

These dampen airborne noise the most, so they are well-suited for the inside of a soundproof hood. On resonant surfaces, it is advisable to apply smeltfolie.
And they work excellently indoors.

I was planning to cover the fan with the soundproofing panel. Just to dampen the airborne noise. (I've tried pressing a large pillow around it and it becomes significantly quieter.)
Damping foil will probably be perfect between the fan and the board the fan is mounted on! How do you screw the fan vertically in the best way then?

Can't you take some pictures and sketch out what you have in mind? I'm having a little trouble imagining what it looks like.
