I have recently moved to a villa in a fairly densely populated residential area. There is quite a lot of traffic around the house.
I find this a bit disturbing as it is very audible inside.
The house's facade currently consists of aluminum panels and I'm considering changing it to wooden panels.
Can this improve sound insulation?
I understand that windows are a major factor, but we have installed new triple-pane windows facing the road and will gradually replace all windows.

An older house you have alu-panel popis from the 70s, new panel ok, but you probably need to insulate more, just the panel won't fix the sound, is it noise or vibrations that you hear, vibrations can travel quite unpredictably in the house's frame and walls?
It is additionally insulated under the siding.L Liteavvarje said:
My thought is to remove the aluminum siding, install battens to create an air gap, and put wooden siding on it. Possibly, one could add 45mm insulation if it makes a big difference in soundproofing.
It is a combination of vibrations in the house and direct sound. It's mostly low frequencies that I find disturbing.
How do the neighbors perceive vibrations, how is the road outside, soft or hard at the base, is it when trucks pass by or always with traffic, what I'm thinking about is if it would help with iso + panel or just panel, there are many factors that contribute to the perception of sound.
Haven't talked to them about it yet. So I don't know.
Can't answer regarding the construction of the road. It's an asphalt road that has been there for a long time.
All traffic can be heard inside. There isn't much truck traffic outside our house, but when the garbage truck, for example, passes by, it resonates quite a bit throughout the house.
A short distance away. (About 150-200m) there's a larger and more heavily trafficked road that can also be heard inside, especially during the day. There as well, only low-frequency noise.
