The garage is built as an additional building attached to the gable of the villa. The garage doesn't have its own wall, so when you are inside the garage, you can see the villa's paneling.

We set up 45mm studs on the villa's paneling and then drywall on top to create a nice room inside the garage, which I use as a laundry room.

We put up some cabinets and a counter, anchored to the 45mm studs and the villa's paneling.

But. I can hear the washing machine and the dryer, I can hear when water is being used, half the house thunders now that I have a heater in the garage room on the counter.

I'm considering tearing down what we've put up and building an interior wall that isn't anchored to the villa's paneling, instead leaving a centimeter of space.

- Has anyone had a similar experience and have any advice on this?

Yes, you should have separate partitions, preferably also decouple the floors from each other.

If I remember correctly, the trusses were not assembled with the villa but resting on the garage walls.

But when I was there and we were installing strapping for the ceiling, I might have driven a few screws to connect the trusses with the villa's panel.

Should I remove these as well?
