After having carpenters at home, I took down a non-load-bearing plank wall. I sawed the last plank with a handsaw, and it didn't bind, but now a few weeks later it has settled a bit so the plank is a little stuck. It can be taken down and put back, but not as easily as before.

The plank wall was nailed to the roof truss but didn't support anything; there was an empty space above the plank wall. However, the last plank holds up the frame around the chimney. One of the carpenters I consulted before was here and checked after I took down the wall, and he said I shouldn’t worry, BUT I am, a little...

This is how it looked before I started tearing down, and the yellow walls are load-bearing, and the red ones I have taken down:

Floor plan showing load-bearing walls in yellow, removed walls in red, a chimney area, and labeled K/F and ST. Indicates structural layout changes.

This is how it looks today:

Partially demolished non-load-bearing interior wall with exposed frame, cables, and partially removed wallpaper, showing wooden floor and window.

Today I made a bracket of 45X5mm flat iron and 2mm sheet metal that I plan to attach to the chimney breast. Is this a good idea or am I on the wrong track?

A custom metal bracket made from 45X5mm flat iron and 2mm sheet metal lying on a wooden floor, intended for chimney support.

If this is the right way to go, what fastening method should I use in the brick? Plastic anchors feel a bit wrong and not so stable, but there will be 5 screws that distribute the load.

Now the console is in place and the carpenter has been here and inspected.
He still didn't think any additional reinforcement was necessary, so this might be excessive, but at least I can sleep better at night...

Bracket installed on a wall with French wood screws and threaded rods in anchor epoxy, surrounded by exposed brick and drywall.

I secured it with some French wood screws in nylon plugs and some threaded rods in anchor compound.
