We are planning to install sliding doors with mirror glass, likely from Elfa, in the hallway. The opening is about 240 cm wide (and equally tall), and due to a narrow passage I would prefer a two-track rail - three tracks steal some valuable centimeters. Therefore, I also only want two doors and not three, to be able to open a sufficiently large area.

It is possible to order 2 sliding doors (a little over 120 cm each) from Elfa, but my concern is whether these doors will be too heavy and cumbersome to handle. Does anyone have experience or input?

I have 2x110 cm wide and 230 cm high doors from Elfa in the bedroom. Absolutely not too heavy and bulky, they roll very easily even after 4 years. Just like you, I didn't want three doors since it's annoying to only be able to open 2/3 instead of 1/2 of the width. However, I don't have mirrored glass, so the ones you're considering are heavier. An alternative is what a relative of mine did; they had an even wider opening than you, I think 270 cm in total. Instead, they went with 4 x 67.5 cm on only a double track. That's also good as it allows for 1/2 the width when opening. Could this be something to consider given the higher weight?

Elfa has a maximum width for their doors that varies depending on the door/profile, and that's likely because some doors don't work as well when they are wider. So, one can probably trust their specifications about what functions effectively. We are satisfied with our 4 doors with double tracks in front of a closet that is 280 cm wide, as it allows us to open the middle section, unlike with two doors where the middle 5 cm (or so) is always covered, which means you can't have any pull-out function there. One of our doors has a mirror about halfway up (in the middle), and I can't notice any difference between that door and the others (model Arctic).

If you have weak arms/hands, it’s probably more important to choose a profile that is easy to grip and not have these "stops" that keep the doors in place when you accidentally touch them but require more force when you actually want to move the doors.

I have Elfa 4 x 90 cm for my wardrobe. They roll easily, but it's not fun to pinch a finger (ask me how I know....).
