Can't decide if it's worth the price to ask the house supplier to install double layers in the walls.

Would appreciate your thoughts and opinions on this.

Anyone have double layers? How is the structure-borne noise in the house?? Does the house feel more stable? Was it worth the cost??

Thanks and much appreciated

Patrick

We are in the process of building now and chose double boards and insulation for the interior walls. We previously lived in a townhouse with thin walls, so I hope it will make a big difference for the "feel" of the house. Also, it's very nice to have something to attach things to on the walls instead of drilling large holes for molly plugs into drywall. I don't think you'll regret going for it.

We have doubled almost everywhere in our renovation. OSB first and then drywall. It costs a bit, but we felt it was worth it. Now it's just a matter of attaching things however we like to the wall. We use a lot of wall-mounted shelves, so we need the extra load-bearing capacity.

Choose double drywall without hesitation. :)

As mentioned, rather OSB or chipboard for the bottom layer and then plasterboard on top.
