I am interested in a house that was renovated in the 1980s. It stands on a ventilated crawl space foundation. At the back, there is a cast part with a row of bricks where the beam(?) lies directly on the mortar. Is this something to worry about?
Otherwise, most things look okay, even if it might need some care. The front foundation wall has a crack in the plaster, is this normal or subsidence? No other signs of subsidence.

It has been used as a holiday home for the past 10 years.

A couple of posts here have joists placed directly on them.
The inspector said.
"It is wrong according to today's standards. BUT, if you don't see any damage to the wood after 50 years, it is probably not a problem."
