We are planning to replace the door with sidelights, the price will be around 15-20 K with the right color. In this price, the sidelights account for almost half of the total amount.

Would it be possible to build the sidelight yourself? I'm thinking of a sturdy timber and a triple-glazed window with similar dimensions as the sidelight. There will be some extra work of course with trims and paint, but the price for the sidelight is halved. It's not just about economic gains, but we then plan to spend a bit more money on the actual door, which is the most important part.
Could this be a viable option or are there pitfalls that make it not worth it?
