I have a basement space with a boiler for a water-based heating system (electric).
The boiler is directly on the concrete floor, on the ground floor. Split-level house.
A shower cabin can easily fit in the same space.
I know that certain norms for wet areas must be followed if you want to be able to shower, etc.
But you can set up an enclosed shower cabin in the space (about 4 meters from the boiler)? You keep the doors closed when you shower. Additionally, the water is led directly into an existing floor drain, with the hose from the cabin's drain.
Wouldn't the electric boiler itself then constitute a risk as it is positioned? Water moves in that system, and connections can also break and water leak onto the concrete floor.
So why all this hysteria about waterproofing?
Is it still "against all reason" to install an enclosed shower cabin in this space?
And if so, why?

I see no reason why you couldn't place a shower cabin in this space. The hysteria is about following the insurance companies' requirements, but for this to pay off, it presupposes that an accident occurs.
And beneath the concrete floor, there are no wooden structures that can be damaged by the floor absorbing some water (if, for example, there is a leak). For significant damage to occur, doesn't it require that the entire floor is filled with water and that the walls absorb water and transfer it to various wooden structures?
