Should one avoid a house with blåbetong and ground radon? Or can one live with it? I am interested in a house with mechanical supply and exhaust ventilation. Currently, it has a radon level of 270. However, they do not have a radon fan installed in the foundation. How much extra can one expect the operational cost to be due to mechanical supply and exhaust ventilation and possibly a radon fan?
Personally, I would never buy a house with radon.
I guess it depends on how old you are. If I were around 75 years old, I probably wouldn't care....
I read an article in the newspaper not too long ago about a family that wasn't able to remediate the radon.....
I don't want to be pessimistic, but you should probably think at least twice before you decide to buy the house.

I also agree with johawk3. If you're over 50 and with kids who have moved out, I might consider a slightly radon-affected house, provided the price is good (it should be much lower than a comparable 'clean' house) and the running costs aren't too high. Scrutinize the current owner's heating costs over the past five years!
If I had little kids, I wouldn't risk buying, not even with additional installations.
There's been a bit of a jinx with radon houses. At the same time, they are harder to get rid of, and a house purchase should hopefully yield a return and be sellable too!

isn't it true that all houses have a certain level of radon?
for example in Sollentuna where I live there's quite a bit of radon in the ground because of the esker and stuff...
I had 380 in the extension and 260 in the rest of the house when we moved in, will do a measurement soon as I'm 99% certain I've already reduced it with increased ventilation... the older people we bought from had the house completely sealed...
planning to use the grant first for an exhaust ventilation system since I've gotten rid of the oil furnace first
haha
the children's bedroom will be in the old part, and our bedroom in the extension due to the slightly higher radon level...
radon is what I've read is most dangerous for young children and smokers, none of us adults have smoked or smoke so...

Thank you for the great insights. In 2020, the limit value will also become 200 for existing houses. In Näsbypark, where we live, many houses were built in the 1950s and constructed with blåbetong. There is also ground radon in many houses. We are hesitant to buy a house with blåbetong ourselves, especially since we have children between 10 months and 7 years old. The house is charming but has the drawback of radon and also being a split-level. The location and the plot are excellent.
